Yep, we’re doing this again. Let’s see how many I can get rid of from my Goodreads TBR this time! Last time I got rid of 3 out of 5. I’ve gone through 40 books so far, and today we’re starting with one that is now number 24 in my Goodreads Want to Read, so I’m getting rid of a fair few!

A 2011 release, a post-apocalypse tale focused around haves and have-nots, from the description. It might be a good read, but honestly I’ve seen this sort of book done really well, and I’ve seen it done bad, and I don’t think I’m up for reading anything similar to this anytime soon, to be honest.

The Last Bastion of the Living – Rhiannon Frater
Remember I said last time I was going through a zombie phase? So yeah, a lot of these books were actually all added on the same day (maybe I was going through my recommendations, which I used to do a lot. Hence why my Want to Read is so, so big). I did say I’d stick with wanting to read a zombie novel if it seems to do something different, and this one looks like it does, however I have previously kept a Rhiannon Frater book on my Want to Read, and I’d rather check that one out before delving into a different series by the same author. So this one goes bye bye.

Another zombie book, but by this point that really should surprise no one. And again, added to the list the same day as the others. As I said before, for me to pick up a zombie book now, it has to be by an author I really like, or seem to do something different with the genre. Meigs is unfamiliar to me, and The Becoming looks like standard zombie fare. It might not be, but it doesn’t really grab me.

More zombies! And this time, this book does seem to do something different, focusing on a turned zombie instead, an intelligent zombie trying to go through his unlife while facing opposition from the living. It sounds intriguing, definitely, and I still find myself keen to check this one out.

Ooo, vampires instead of zombies! I am slowly getting back into these sort of Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy type series, and it’s a genre I always have had a soft spot for. I’m pretty sure I’ve read a short story set in this world quite recently, too. And it’s a TV series? Makes me definitely want to check this out. Especially with the idea of the vampire being an illegitimate child of Henry VIII. Sign me right up.

Not too bad this time – three deleted, two kept, and the ones I’ve kept I actually really, really like the looks of, so hopefully I can get to them one day fairly soon! You know, once I’ve actually reduced the amount of unread ARCs I currently have. As always, let me know if you’ve read any of these and whether or not you agree with my choices. I would have kept the Zombie, Ohio book for sure. It sounds like a fun read.
