When you write your reviews, which do you discuss more – the plot or the characters?
(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
Without actively going through and checking, I actually don’t know? I like to think I manage to strike a balance between the two, but it really depends on the book itself! Some books it’s the characters that really stand out, in others the turn of events become really memorable, and then there’s those books that manage to strike a perfect balance between the two.
So I think it does vary. One review might focus more on the characters, especially if the plot is formulaic. The next might dive a bit more into the plot, but I also think it’s harder to talk about plot without spoiling anything, whereas you can talk about a character for longer without heading towards spoiler territory.
I guess the answer is, I discuss both, and try to go for a balance, but likely discuss character more than plot, partly because it’s the characters that can really make or break a book, and partly because it’s easier avoiding spoilers talking about character instead of plot.
What about you? What do you think you discuss more?

I say I talk more about the characters but sometimes it depends with sticks out more. Some books are more character driven and others are more plot driven.
