It’s been a while since I did one of these, so I thought I’d dive back in, especially as I haven’t actually posted anything on a Wednesday for a while! Right now I’m focusing on getting plenty scheduled and set up as it looks like the next few weeks are going to be busy, but it does mean things could be a little hit and miss going into July, but we’ll see how it all goes.

The Amulet of Samarkand
Jonathan Stroud

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
There’s nothing about this that hugely puts me off, but nothing about it sounds massively appealing to me either. It might be something I’d be inclined to pick up if I came across it in a second hand bookshop, but not something I’d go out of my way to get. Maybe I’ll read it some day, but I don’t think it’ll be anytime too soon.
Status: Gone
The Turning
Jennifer Armintrout

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Hmmm…this is kind of slipped firmly into “maybe?” for me. It has a lot of elements I do like, and I’m a sucker (haha) for a vampire novel – it’s definitely something I would have devoured a few years back, but now? I’m not totally sure. This stays for now, but whether or not I’ll actually pick it up at some point remains to be seen.

Books of Blood: Volume One
Clive Barker

Genre: Horror
At some point I really, really gotta – I mean this is an incredibly well known, good horror book and I’m ashamed to say I haven’t yet read any Clive Barker. I know, I know, awful of me. I will get this eventually and I will read it eventually, just a matter of when.

The Great and Secret Show
Clive Barker

Genre: Horror
Barker is (by all accounts) a master of the genre, but if I read one of his books and enjoy it I’ll likely pick up others, and I feel like multiple books by the same author on my want to read is sometimes clogging it up? (If I haven’t yet read them, anyway!) So for now, this one goes, but it doesn’t mean I’m not going to pick it up eventually.
Status: Gone
Muse
Erin McFadden

Genre: Urban Fantasy
I almost just totally dismissed this – there are enough UF/PR books and series I want to get to already, and it’s a matter of picking and choosing which ones I really want to read. But this…actually sounds kind of interesting and fairly different, and it’s got a decently high rating on Goodreads, so yeah.
Status: Keep
Only two removed today, but that’s not too bad – the shelf is ever so slowly coming down! My hope is that one day it will actually be manageable. As always, if you’ve by chance read any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts, whether you agree or disagree, and if you have reviews of any please feel free to link me to them!
