Top Ten Tuesday: Characters Who Should Team Up

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

I think this will be a really interesting one, and I’m excited to see other TTT posts for this week and what people come up with. I admit, I’ve always really enjoyed fanfiction, and I love the idea of taking characters from one universe and dropping them into another. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Characters from Different Books Who Should Team Up
(or date, be friends with, etc.)
(Submitted by Cathy @ WhatCathyReadNext)

Mika Moon (The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches) & Aster (The Good Luck Girls)

If I could somehow guide Aster to Nowhere House, I could totally see Mika Moon taking her under her wing. Aster would be resilient, at first, to the found family atmosphere at Nowhere House, and to the comfort and safety she’s not used to, but I definitely think after a while she could, at least, relax there. Aster suffers so much both before and during The Good Luck Girls, it would be nice for her to have a break, and Mika would be the perfect mentor for her.

Rose Darling (Camp Damascus) & Marin (Becoming Human)

Rose goes through so, so much during the events of Camp Damascus, and it’s impossible not to feel for her as her understanding of her world, her family, and her religion massively change. Marin, on the other hand, is a sweet, gentle healing force who spreads nothing but love through the world. I think these two would become fast friends, Marin offering an understanding and kindness that Rose appreciates, and Rose – like Marin’s partner Jack – giving Marin the chance to see the world through another’s eyes.

Faith York (The Festering Ones), Kate (The Man With No Shadow) & Rose McFarland (Whispers in the Dark)

This is a trio I would not want to get on the wrong side of. In different ways, these women absolutely kick ass. A lot of it. And with all the supernatural shit they have to deal with, none of them are coming out the other side without needing help. I can totally imagine these three being dragged to a support group by concerned friends, connecting with each other and hitting up a bar afterwards to trade war stories.

Marra (Nettle & Bone), Zetian (Iron Widow) & Alyce (Malice)

This is another formidable trio – if these three united, no word they found themselves in would survive. All three are willing to push themselves far and, quite frankly, burn it all down – not for no reason, but because the worlds around them are corrupted places where ruling classes do what they like and everyone else suffers for it. I can so picture these three teaming up to take care of a tyrannical ruler or fascist state, and anyone in their way would end up, well, dead. They’d quite frankly be totally unstoppable.

So there we have it – ten characters who I think, to various degrees, would be amazing to see together, in one room, one universe, etc etc. I love playing around with ideas like these, and like I mentioned above I do enjoy fanfic, so it was fun thinking of how these various characters would interact and get along with each other! Feel free to point me towards your TTTs for this week or let me know what you think about my choices if you’ve read any of these books! Oh, and all of these do come highly recommended from me, I’ve linked my reviews where I have them but even with those I don’t have review for, I definitely recommend checking them out.
