#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
This one was quite hard to find books for, but I managed to find two books I’ve picked up ages ago and three books from my NetGalley TBR that fit (at least kind of). As always, if you have read these, I’d love to hear what you thought. These are all ebooks – the first two I got during the Stuff Your Kindle event. I may have stretched ‘best friend’ just a touch to make these fit.
#5OnMyTBR September 11th: Best Friend
Kissed by Carla Krae

Genre: Romance
Age: Adult
This is a best friends to lovers romance and it sounds kind of fun – Beth and Jacob are neighbours and best friends until a trip to London, and this is book 1 in a 5 book series about the same couple, so I’m kind of intrigued to dig in.
Grumpy Fake Boyfriend by Jackie Lau

Genre: Romance
Age: Adult
In this one, the best friend is…well, the MMC is the best friend of the FMC’s brother…which makes for some really interesting dynamics, and it’s also fake dating, and as soon as I saw it I had to grab it. Again, just sounds like a fun romance, plus it’s the start of the Kwan Sisters series, and the possibility of a new series to enjoy is always intriguing.
A Necessary Blessing by Sarah Head

Genre: Historical
Age: Adult
This is more about a group of friends than one ‘best friend’, but the friendships look to be so important to the novel, as Ruth discovers more about her village and befriends the locals. It definitely sounds intriguing, and the reviews look to be pretty positive!
All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O’Donoghue

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Young Adult
This is a friendship that ends badly, when Maeve’s ex-best friend Lily disappears. This one sounds intriguing, especially with the focus on tarot cards, the setting, the fact it’s noted on Goodreads as being queer, alongside paranormal and witches, it really sounds like something I’ll enjoy.
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth

Genre: Historical – Mystery
Age: Adult
This is one I’ve been meaning to get to for ages. It’s more a romantic relationship than platonic, I think, but I have a feeling considering the timeframe the two students “obsessed with each other” are going to be friends as well as romantically entwined? I think? Either way, this sounds fascinating and I’m annoyed at myself I haven’t got to it (yet).
