Let’s Talk Bookish: How Stubborn of a Reader are You?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme that was originally created and hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books starting in August 2019, and was then cohosted with Dani @ Literary Lion from May 2020 to March 2022. Book Nook Bits has hosted since April 2022.

September 15: How Stubborn of a Reader are You?
(Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog)

Prompts: How stubborn of a reader are you? How often do you stray from reading books not in your favorite genres? Do you sometimes dabble in genres you usually stay away from? Or do you read any genre, and have no favorites?

I very much freely switch between genres, but I do have my favourite genres (Fantasy, Romance, and Horror). Sometimes I’m a bit more of a mood reader, but usually I can find something within one of them, at least, that I’ll enjoy. I’ll always give a book a go, no matter the genre, if it sounds interesting, but there are some genres that I don’t tend to seek out – Science Fiction and Crime being top among them. However, something in these does occasionally catch my eye, and now and then I’ll venture outside my comfort zone to try something new. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t!

Sometimes, if I find I’m reading too much of one genre, I find a change does help, but largely I do focus on those three genres, as you can probably tell from this blog and Divination Hollow, though of course variety is the spice of life, and I always get excited when I find a book in a genre I don’t usually read that I absolutely adore!

  1. My favorite genres are horror and detective/murder mystery novels etc, I occasionally venture out of my comfort zone if it’s something that really interests me, ie nineteen eighty four.
I also like reading non fiction from books about wars, or random unsolved mysteries.

    1. I’m not a big crime/thriller person, but if you throw in a paranormal element I’m all for it – which is odd! But there are some crime/thriller/mystery books that catch my eye now and then, it’s just really dependent. Non-Fiction is really varied for me, though usually stuff about social history or true crime really
