Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Oh, this was a fun one! Even looking through the books I could imagine the articles that follow. Due to time constraints and also struggling to find many more that fit well, I’m sticking to six on this one.
Top Six Books
With Titles That Would Make Great Newspaper Headlines
The Wedding Confession
by J.J. Knight

Now, what kind of juicy confession would come out of a wedding? It would have to be a high profile wedding, right? A celebrity or politician or a member of the upper crust – a confession to a crime, maybe? Very different from the fun, sparkly, romantic moments in the book itself!
Conspiracies Uncovered
by Lee Mellor

I can really imagine this being some sort of sensationalist story designed to rile up the readers about something, revealing the ‘truth’ (or…not quite the truth?) because anger sells.
Fangs and Frenemies
Sierra Cross

Definitely in more of a tabloid, celebrity-heavy style newspaper, this one would no doubt be reporting on some so-called feud between two talented women and stoking the flames while doing so.
Small Town Girl: Love, Lies and the Undercover Police
by Donna McLean

This wouldn’t be too dissimilar from the book itself, but more of a removed journalist rather than the heart of the story. A hard hitting expose, perhaps?
Men, Women, and Chain Saws
by Carol J. Clover

A shocking crime, perhaps? Or maybe another expose – whatever it is, this is the kind of news story that includes all the details – or maybe it leans into the punny side and highlights some random trend of people presenting partners with chains and saw pendants?
Undercover Princess
by Connie Glynn

This would definitely be another tabloid sensation story, wouldn’t it? A celebrity of the royal variety, maybe disguising herself to have some fun, or hidden away for years…so many possibilities!
What do you think? Something that stood out to me was the ones that sounded most like headlines to me were ones focusing on people, rather than an item or something else. Do you have any book titles you think would make great headlines?

I love your idea for “Fangs and Frenemies.” Probably two women from a specific vampire-y TV series, at that, with rumors of feuding over leading-lady screentime.

These are all good answers. I wonder what an Undercover Princess would be doing?
