#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
I expected to have at least one audiobook and physical book on this TBR list, but nope, apparently none of them are as long as the NetGalley books I have. It’s worth noting too I do have non-NetGalley books on my Kindle that might be longer, but I don’t actually record the page numbers for them. So these are all NetGalley ebooks that are on the long side (assuming the prompt is relating to length and not how long they’ve been on there, which…yeah, there’s some that have been on my TBR for way too long!)
#5OnMyTBR January 15th: The Longest on Your TBR
The Living Dead by George A. Romero, Daniel Kraus

Length: 656 Pages
Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Published: August 4th, 2020
Why I Want to Read: Because it’s a zombie novel from Romero himself, though I’m a little put off by the length. I have no doubt this is likely a good book, but at over 600 pages it’s hard to imagine how the most effective parts can be sustained, and more recently I just haven’t got on super well with lengthy books.
The Embroidered Book by Kate Heartfield

Length: 655 Pages
Genre: Historical Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: February 17th, 2022
Why I Want to Read: I’ve really been enjoying historical fantasy the last few years, and this one caught my attention when I first saw it – it’s also a period of history I’m finding myself more and more drawn to, and this sounds like a really intriguing take on it.
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth

Length: 641 Pages
Genre: Historical – Gothic
Age: Adult
Published: October 20th, 2020
Why I Want to Read: Yes, I really should have read this by now but at over 600 pages that is a beast! It really does sound right up my street though, and I’m hoping it’s one of those books that once I get into it, feels half as long as it actually is.
The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab

Length: 657 Pages
Genre: Historical Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: September 26th, 2023
Why I Want to Read: I’ve never read a Schwab book I didn’t like, and this is a continuation of the Shades of Magic series, which was a trilogy I absolutely adored.
The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick

Length: 663 Pages
Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: January 19th, 2021
I love a fantasy series I can really dig into, and this sounds intriguing, but I’ve put it off so far because of the length, which is a common theme this week! Still, I think I’d quite enjoy this one, and might need to bump it up the TBR so I can read it soon!
Out of curiosity, I checked one of the books I’m currently reading, as it’s currently showing as just over 8 hours on my Kindle, with 10% read (Black Spartacus by Sudhir Hazareesingh), yet that is only coming in at 431 pages on Kindle, which seems…a lot less than the time remaining seems to indicate?
Let me know what the longest book on your TBR is – is a longer length off putting, or do you love big books?
