Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
For last year’s Bookish Goals post, I had 6 goals. I kind of fell short of them – for this year, I’m going to stick to five, and there’s quite a bit of overlap with last year’s post!
Top Five Bookish Goals for 2024
Complete a Reading Challenge
If you’ve seen my previous posts on the topic, you’ll know that this year I went for slightly more challenges, but with less books. There’s three challenges that are running in 2024, and two that are to complete at any time, so I’m really hoping this year I can complete at least one!
Read 70 Books
This is pretty much the same as I had last year. In recent years, I’ve often read over 100, but there’s been such varying circumstances I don’t think it’s always possible. 70 I would be very happy with, anyway.
Submit, Submit, Submit
Again, this is the same goal as last year, but I didn’t get as much chance as I would have liked for submitting stuff. I did submit a novel and novella, both were rejected close together, but I did start the year with a short story acceptance so I think I need to try and submit more (again).
Avoid New Digital Books
It’s hard, isn’t it? I see a book on sale or for free for Kindle or on NetGalley and I just…can’t resist! I’ve done well with NetGalley over the last year, not requesting a whole lot, but now and then I’ll find myself on there doing a requesting spree and I really really need to stop that and try and reduce the amount of arcs and non-arcs already on my Kindle!
Clear Older Books on my TBR
I have a huge backlog of books (related to the previous goal!) but something I want to try and do this year is clear some of the older books I have on there, at least on my NetGalley and maybe physical TBRs. With the Reading Challenges, when I look at what books to add for the prompts I’m going to try and pull as many of the older books as I can, balancing this with newer releases.
So there we have it – 5 goals for this year. Hopefully I don’t do too bad on these! What’s your main reading/bookish goal for 2024?

Oh we have some in common! Especially cleaning out the TBR and buying less.

Good luck on these goals!! Clearing the older stuff off the TBR is a great idea! I usually do that at the end of the year and forgot to.
