#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
This was a hard one – I really had to dig to find the books on my TBR to fit this prompt. They’re all ebooks this week, as I couldn’t identify any of my audio or physical books that would fit.
#5OnMyTBR February 5th: Artsy
The Muse by Charlotte E. Hart, Rachel De Luine

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Published: May 10th, 2021
Why I Want to Read: It’s the combination of artist and dancer that drew me to this one, as well as the dark romance element. I haven’t actually read dark romance, most of it doesn’t look appealing on the face of it, but this one sounds like something I might enjoy, so it feels like a good chance to dip my toes in.
The Ophelia Girls by Jane Healey

Genre: Historical Mystery
Age: Adult
Published: August 10th, 2021
Why I Want to Read: A group of girls obsessed with pre-Raphaelite paintings, recreating the drowning Ophelia…this grabbed me as soon as I saw the summary. There’s something about that period of art history that keeps it fascinating, and this sounds like it explores that fascination in a fairly dark way.

Genre: Non-Fiction – Essays
Age: Adult
Published: January 13th, 2022
Why I Want to Read: This is part of the Object Lessons series, and I really enjoyed Snake, so am looking forward to this. Stickers are artsy, to me, and I really like them. I love getting new stickers and finding where to put them, and they can really brighten things up, so I’m definitely keen to find out the history of the sticker!
A Portrait in Shadow by Nicole Jarvis

Genre: Historical Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: May 2nd, 2023
Why I Want to Read: I admit, I was really taken with this book when I first picked it up, and revisiting the summary reminds me why – because the mixture of magic and art sounds fascinating, and I’m keen to see how the author handles it in this historical fantasy set against the backdrop of 17th century Florence.
The Unforgettable Loretta Darling by Katherine Blake

Genre: Historical
Age: Adult
Publishing: June 13th, 2024
Why I Want to Read: I haven’t read this yet and it already feels like I can’t shake it off – I’m really hoping this one lives up to expectations! An aspiring makeup artist in 1950s Hollywood discovers the dark side. I’m looking forward to this.
This was a fun if tricky one, but it did remind me of a few books I really want to read! Do you have many ‘artsy’ books on your TBR? Do you lean towards artsy characters, settings, or non-fiction about arts and artists?
