#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
#5OnMyTBR February 12th: Titles Starting With ‘M’
Maria the Wanted and the Legacy of the Keepers by V. Castro

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: November 28th, 2018
Why I Want to Read: I think the question here is really why haven’t I read this yet? It’s got vampires! It’s by V. Castro! It sounds so fun! Really need to get this bumped up my list and get on it.
Magic Claimed by Charmaine Ross

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Adult
Published: June 11th, 2022
Why I Want to Read: I only really started getting into romance relatively recently, and I’m still working my way through finding out what I like and don’t like. I’ve enjoyed Paranormal Romances in the past, but haven’t really explored, fully, what’s out there – so this landed on my TBR out of curiosity, and so I could get an idea on whether I like this sort of thing or not. We’ll see!
Mean Girl Feminism: How White Feminists Gaslight, Gatekeep, and Girlboss by Kim Hong Nguyen

Genre: Non-Fiction – Feminism – Race
Age: Adult
Published: January 9th, 2024
Why I Want to Read: I’m always trying to deepen my understanding of social justice issues, especially those outside my own experience – I think it’s important to understand perspectives outside my own, and I think this will be a really informative book on how white feminism impacts marginalized groups, and how this can be countered.
Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction by Lisa Kröger and Melanie R. Anderson

Genre: Non-Fiction – History – Horror
Age: Adult
Published: September 17th, 2019
Why I Want to Read: I love reading about the history of horror – it’s absolutely fascinating, and in many ways it’s the history of humanity, snapshots of time and what scared society at different periods. This one I am definitely looking forward to, with the focus on the women behind horror and spec fic.
My Heart Is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Published: August 31st, 2021
Why I Want to Read: I’ve heard such great things about this book, and I really should have read it by now – I really enjoyed The Only Good Indians, and I’m keen to read more from Jones. Need to try and get to this one sooner rather than later.
Have you read any of these and think I need to get a move on with them? Or maybe you’ve got some of these on your TBR – either way, I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s post.
