#5OnMyTBR: Historical

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook  and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

I got so excited seeing this topic – there are many, many historical books on my TBR, of various kinds – some mystery, some historical fantasy, and a whole lot of romance. So expect a few romance books on this list today…

#5OnMyTBR March 11th: Historical

False Lights by K.J. Whittaker

Genre: Historical Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: September 7th, 2017
Time Period: Regency

I picked this up with a couple of other regency romance books when I was dipping my toe in, and reading the others has made me really look forward to this. It has an intriguing premise.

A Deal with a Devilish Duke by Tessa Brookman

Genre: Historical Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: July 20th, 2023
Time Period: Regency

Yes, I have quite a lot of these types of books on my Kindle, partly because of events like Stuff Your Kindle, and largely because indie romance authors are so generous when it comes to deals on their books! So yes, my Kindle is stuffed – but I’m so excited to really dig into more of the regency romances I have on it!

A Poisoner’s Tale by Cathryn Kemp

Genre: Historical
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: July 11th, 2024
Time Period: 17th Century (Rome)

This is a much newer addition to my TBR, and one I was really excited to get! This book sounds riveting, focusing on Giulia, a professional poisoner who operated in Rome.

In Memoriam by Alice Winn

Genre: Historical
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: March 7th, 2023
Time Period: WWI

This is another new addition to the TBR – and it looks really good, if quite an emotional read. I expect I’m going to need to brace myself for this one, but I think it’ll be a very good book.

Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon

Genre: Historical
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: January 18th, 2024
Time Period: 412 BC, Sicily

This sounds so good, with such a great premise – there’s something special with books about characters trying to put on some play or the other, and I imagine this one has some truly funny moments – hopefully they won’t go totally over my head!

Have you read any of these books? Do you like historical fiction either in general or a particular subgenre? As always, if you have recommendations I would love to read them!
