Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d Like to Go On Vacation With

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This was a fun one – the character TTTs can be enjoyable, when I can match them up the characters, anyway, and it’s so fun to think about going on holiday with them! So, enjoy this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, and let me know which characters you’d go on holiday with in the comments.

Top Ten Characters I’d Like to Go On Vacation With

Nell & Cricket
Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up

Genre: Contemporary
Age: Adult
Published: December 31st, 2020
Holiday: Beach Holiday – Greece

Nell and Cricket actually do go on holiday together in the book, but quite honestly by the time it’s finished I think they both deserve another! Somewhere sunny, with a beach – for sure, going to Greece with these two would be such a great time, and they’d both make sure everyone got the absolute most out of the trip!

Viv
Bookshops & Bonedust

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: November 7th, 2023
Holiday: Adventure – Multiple Destinations
Review

Yes, in some ways, Viv needs to learn how to relax more, but by the end of Bookshops & Bonedust she’s itching for an adventure (though I don’t know if that changes by Legends & Lattes!), and I think she’d love an adventure style holiday, where you can really get the adrenaline pumping in various ways. Plus, you know you’d be totally safe with an orc at your side. Really, you could go anywhere! But for Viv’s sake, I’d take her on the kind of holiday where there is absolutely plenty to do and many places to travel to/through.

Brynhild & Gudran
The Valkyrie

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: January 1st, 2023
Holiday: City Break – New York
Review

These two deserve a real break after the events of the novel, but I don’t think either would be content to sit on a beach or by a pool. Taking them to modern day New York, I think, would provide enough entertainment for them both, and they’d just be really fun to hang around with away from all the drama and gods they dealt with through the book. I’d avoid taking them anywhere near MCU stuff, though – too triggering, especially for Brynhild, and she’d probably end up pointing out all the awful inaccuracies of the films!

Sir Kay
Perilous Times

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: May 25th, 2023
Holiday: Camping Holiday – Europe
Review

I think going back to the wilderness would do Kay some good after the events he’s dealt with in Perilous Times. This is another character who just needs a break, time to reconnect with the land and heal. He can clearly look after himself, and is used to roughing it, but getting away from civilisation and doing some exploring across a peaceful Europe would do wonders for him. And who doesn’t want to travel with a knight? Not to mention all the stories he could tell you around the campfire!

Amina al-Sirafi
The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Published: February 28th, 2023
Holiday: Cruise
Review

Okay, a cruise might not be the best idea…for everyone else on board, because I doubt she would stay away from the wheel for too long! Everyone would have an easier time if they just handed it over to her, but you know she knows the best places to go and you’re bound to have a great time with Amina al-Sirafi on the high seas.

Lore, Gabriel, & Bastian
The Foxglove King

Genre: Fantasy Romance
Age: Adult
Published: March 7th, 2023
Holiday: Everywhere
Review

Going on holiday literally anywhere with these three is bound to be entertaining. Seriously, stick them in a room together and it creates pure chaos, but think about how much fun it’d be! You could do a whole world tour and just enjoy how things unfold, though definitely need to make sure Gabriel gets some alone time for studying, likely while Bastian enjoys whatever parties are happening in the area and Lore explores.

Personally, I think any of these holidays with these characters would be great fun! As always, let me know what you think, and if you’ve done this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, link to your post below!
