#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
I like short stories – I think a good short story can be so impactful, and anthologies are a wonderful way to try new authors before diving into their longer works. For today’s #5OnMyTBR, I’m focusing on anthologies, as I really do have quite a lot of these on my TBR!
#5OnMyTBR May 6th: Short Stories
At Midnight: 15 Beloved Tales Reimagined

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback and ebook
Published: November 22nd, 2022
Why I Want to Read: I really need to read this – it’s been sitting beside me for ages, and I keep kind of looking at it, problem is it’s a little harder to fit anthologies onto my reading challenges, but I’ll definitely keep trying. This has a mix of authors I’ve read and liked, authors I’ve heard a lot about, and those new-to-me, so I do really want to dig in asap.
Tainted Love: Women in Horror Anthology

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: February 16th, 2021
Why I Want to Read: Anthologies can really shine in horror, and I was intrigued by this one because of some of the contributors, the ideas in the stories, and the fact it’s a women in horror anthology, and while there a lot of white male dominated anthologies in horror, the tides are slowly turning on that front, though it definitely feels like indie horror, like this anthology, put a lot of effort into redirecting that wave.

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: July 6th, 2021
Why I Want to Read: I do like Cthulhu Mythos stories, even if I’m not a fan of Lovecraft’s actual work, but the concepts and ideas are always interesting to explore, and there’s so many different ideas writers can play around in, I’m looking forward to diving into this world through these short stories.
Seasons Between Us: Tales of Identities and Memories

Genre: Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: August 8th, 2021
Why I Want to Read: Identity is such a key topic to explore in fiction, and elements of it as a whole often filter through to SFF texts, so to have an anthology deliberately dedicated to this sort of topic is really interesting. I don’t often read sci-fi, but I like when it leans into fantasy a little more, so I’m hoping this also gives me some more authors to explore.
Multiverses: An Anthology of Alternate Realities

Genre: Sci-Fi
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: March 28th, 2023
Why I Want to Read: I find different ideas of multiverses intriguing, and similarly to previous anthologies mentioned here there’s writers in this anthology I either like, want to read, or are new-to-me, and it’s very current with sci-fi as a whole, so who knows what else I’ll want to read after this!
As always, if you’ve read any of these and want to share your thoughts on them, I’d love to hear from you! Any you thought were great and need to be bumped up my TBR?
