Pride Reading 2024

It’s almost that time of the year when we widely celebrate Pride, and over at Divination Hollow we’re busy preparing for our Pride in Horror Month. So for today’s post, I thought I’d highlight just a handful of the books I’ll be reading and reviewing for Pride Month! Because these all fall under the kind of things we cover at DHR, keep an eye out for the reviews to come up there next month.

Pride Reading 2024

Gay Aliens and Queer Folk
Emily Garside

Genre: Non-Fiction – Entertainment
Age: Adult
Format: Hardback
Published: September 21st, 2023

Okay, so I have already read this one – at the time of writing, I’m working on my review ready for next month. But, in short, this book is fantastic, and if you have any interest in queer TV history (specifically British TV), this is a crucial text, detailing Russell T Davies’ incredible career alongside the general impact his work has had on the industry.

Bury Your Gays
Chuck Tingle

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback & ebook
Expected Publication: July 9th, 2024

How great does this book look? Tingle is an excellent writer, and it’s no surprise he is so good at both horror and romance (I could go into a whole essay on those two genres and why fans should really pay attention to both!) – Chuck proves love is love, and I’m really excited to dive into his latest horror novel.

This Wicked Fate
Kalynn Bayron

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: June 21st, 2022

I really enjoyed This Poison Heart, and Bayron’s previous book Cinderella is Dead, so I have no doubt I’ll love this one just as much. She’s a great writer, and I also have You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight on my TBR, which I am equally looking forward to.

Ace of Spades
Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé

Genre: Mystery/Thriller
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback and ebook
Published: June 1st, 2021

This has been on my TBR for way too long at this point, but I’m hopeful I can get to it soon enough to review for Pride. It’s definitely one I want to read, and one of those books I kind of made sure would come up in a reading challenge for this year.

I Feed Her to the Beast and the Beast is Me
Jamison Shea

Genre: Horror
Age: Young Adult
Format: ebook
Published: August 29th, 2023

This is another one I’m quite excited to be reading relatively soon – as soon as I originally saw it I knew it was one I had to read. I mean, that title, that cover, how could I resist?

Let me know if any of these books are on your TBR, or if you’ve read them, and if you have any Pride recommendations, I’d love to hear about them.
