#5OnMyTBR: Time

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook  and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

This was a fun one. I very much leaned towards time travel for this one, though I might have been able to dig a little deeper and find time related titles…maybe next time if the topic comes up again! But for now, here are 5 books on my TBR that involve time travel.

#5OnMyTBR May 27th: Time

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Genre: Paranormal
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: February 8th, 2011

Why I Want to Read: This was the book that immediately jumped into my head. This is only Book 1, so I don’t for sure know time travel is involved here, but I’m still including it. I’m glad for the current delay in reading this though, as I’ve found it more difficult to fully enjoy a book if I try and read it too soon after watching the series. So, the series isn’t as fresh in my mind now, and hopefully it won’t be too much longer before I read this one.

A Paradox of Fates by Rebecca Hefner

Genre: Sci-Fi – Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: February 25th, 2020

Why I Want to Read: I’m still learning what sort of romances I like and which I don’t, and this currently falls into the uncertain category, but it sounds like it could possibly be a lot of fun, with the MC born to ‘prevent the past’ – the MCs are also in their late 30’s and 40’s, and it’s nice to see more books with MCs who aren’t late teens/early 20s.

The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley

Genre: Sci-Fi – Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: May 7th, 2024

Why I Want to Read: Time travel romance, spy thriller and workplace comedy – I’m incredibly curious how it all comes together. It sounds like a fun read, especially with the various characters from across time. If this is as good as I hope, it’ll be pretty memorable.

Doctor Who: Magic of the Angels by Jacqueline Rayner

Genre: Sci-Fi
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: February 2nd, 2012

Why I Want to Read: I really do need to read more of the Doctor Who novels, and this one – part of the Quick Reads series – seems like it might be a fun ride, at the least. And Doctor Who is the most iconic time travelling character, so this feels very fitting for this prompt.

Dreams of a Highlander by Katy Baker

Genre: Romance – Historical
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: August 29th, 2016

Why I Want to Read: So, while still kind of finding my feet in romance – there are so many out there! – I’ve come across this sort of premise a few times, though I’ve not actually dived into the whole “modern woman goes back in time, usually in Scotland” in great numbers, the one book I have read I did enjoy, and I do like this concept. At the least, this should be kind of interesting.

If you’ve read any of these I’d love to hear your thoughts! Are you a fan of time travel? Do you have time travel recommendations? If so, let me know!
