#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
The hardest part of this one was actually narrowing it down! What a great prompt for the start of Pride Month. I have a lot of LGBTQ+ books on both physical and digital shelves, so finding these wasn’t too difficult, and I’ve tried to spread them out across the different formats I have on my TBR.

Gwen & Art Are Not in Love by Lex Croucher

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Young Adult
Format: Audiobook
Published: May 11th, 2023
Why I Want to Read: This one sounds so cute, and I love the premise of it focusing on King Arthur’s descendant and his betrothed, Gwendoline. It feels like it’s going to be very entertaining

Genre: Historical
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: March 7th, 2023
Why I Want to Read: All queer stories are important, and as well as enjoying more cheerful books like Gwen & Art, I think it’s crucial we also have stories like this, that look at queer characters when their very existence is dangerous. This sounds like it’s going to be a fairly emotional read, but it’s had great reviews and I’m keen to read more historical fiction.

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: October 11th, 2022
Why I Want to Read: Romantic Suspense isn’t something I’ve explored much of, but this has enough intrigue to snag my attention. It’s an interesting setup, and for me gives me a good opportunity to dip my toe into this kind of fiction.
The Stars Too Fondly by Emily Hamilton

Genre: Sci-Fi – Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: June 11th, 2024
Why I Want to Read: I am so excited for this book, and over the moon (no pun intended) when I received an arc via NetGalley. A sapphic space rom-com. Yes, please!
Monsters in the Closet: Homosexuality and the Horror Film by Harry M. Benshoff

Genre: Horror – Film History
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: October 1st, 1997
Why I Want to Read: Something I think is incredibly important if you want to be an ally or even as part of the queer community – know your history. So much of what happened to and around queer folks was hidden from us, but there’s no doubt they shaped horror and Hollywood even when they weren’t able to be open about who they were. This book has been on my TBR for a fair while, but it is quite thick, and I want to give it the full attention it deserves.
As always, if you have any book recommendations for this week’s topic, I’d love to hear them. And do let me know if you’ve read any of the above! Make sure you check out Divination Hollow Reviews this month too for lots of Pride in Horror content!
