Here’s a fun fact: my dad turns 70 tomorrow. I think that’s pretty awesome, and although he’s not a big reader himself, he has always hugely supported me in my own reading and writing, and always been there to encourage me when I needed it. He’s a hell of a storyteller, too, and definitely helped spark my love for stories in general. So, I thought it’d be kind of fun to highlight a book from each decade since he was born to mark this milestone (which is, yes, a total of 8 decades!).
This isn’t a ‘top’ list, it’s not ‘the BEST books’ for each decade, but it’s just a fun little list of some books I’ve really, really enjoyed!

Thank you so much for this and your comment on my Diversity in Reading post! I’ve gradually been catching up since we got home – he had a fab time, we had a fab time, stayed in a couple of swanky hotels and Dad said on the way home how nice it was for ‘all of us’ (me, two brothers, a partner each and now my niece) to all be together. My brothers and I managed not to bicker (too much) too!
