#5OnMyTBR: Over 400 Pages

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook  and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

So, I keep track of the books I own, but there’s only two ‘groups’ where I have accurate page counts noted down – my physical books and NetGalley arcs. The information can come in incredibly useful sometimes, especially if I’m keen for a short read! But for today, here’s some of the books on my TBR – physical and digital – that exceed 400 pages.

#5OnMyTBR July 8th: Over 400 Pages

London: The Concise Biography by Peter Ackroyd

Genre: Non-Fiction – History
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: December 5th, 2000
Pages: 662

Why I Want to Read: I do really want to read this – London is such a fascinating city, with an incredibly rich history, and you can see feel the echoes of it while you’re there. But this is so long, even the concise version isn’t far off 700 pages.

Rise of the Cinder Fae by Whitney Dean

Genre: Fantasy Romance
Age: New Adult
Format: ebook
Published: March 1st, 2024
Pages: 678

Why I Want to Read: There’s something completely intriguing about fae, when in the right writer’s hands. And this novel sounds like it combines fantasy and romance in a well balanced way – I hope so, anyway!

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Genre: Fantasy – Paranormal
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: February 8th, 2011
Pages: 579

Why I Want to Read: This one feels like it’s looming – not just because it’s a big book, but in the sense that it feels like it’s fast approaching. It’s on a couple of my reading challenges, so I’m hopeful I’ll get to it before the end of the year, but it’s likely to take me a while to get through it. Still, I’m looking forward to this, and definitely feel like there’s a big enough gap between watching the series and reading this that the changes won’t stick out in my head.

The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: September 26th, 2023
Pages: 657

Why I Want to Read: The Shades of Magic trilogy is one of my favourites, so of course I’m keen to return to that world and find out what some of my favourite characters have been up to. Definitely one to bump up the reading list.

We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: January 19th, 2021
Pages: 592

Why I Want to Read: I adored We Hunt the Flame, so of course I’m excited to return to this world and characters. As far as I can tell, this is a duology, and I’ve read some absolutely excellent duologies, so I’m really hopeful this will soon be among them!

As always if you have read any of these and want to share your thoughts, please do! I’d love to know what longer books are on your TBR, or your recommendations for bigger tomes.
