Top Ten Tuesday: Throwback Freebie

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Time for another TTT! I can’t believe how fast this month is going already – I feel really unprepared for the fact we’re in July! I did fall behind a little with various trips in June, so it’ll be a shorter Top Ten Tuesday today. As today’s a throwback freebie, it means picking from a previous TTT. For this week, I thought I’d veer away a little from books and, instead, highlight my…

Top Five Bingeworthy TV Shows

Orange is the New Black

This might not be the easiest show ever to watch and rewatch, but I recently went back to rewatch it and it’s as gripping as always. It’s so hard not to get caught up with the Ladies of Litchfield and their various storylines, and the show doesn’t an excellent job of portraying nuanced characters who you cheer on no matter their flaws and difficulties. It is very much of it’s time, however, and I would strongly suggest checking out content warnings online if you’ve never watched it before. One thing that definitely should be highlighted is the diversity on screen – the ensemble cast is largely made up of women, and as well as women of different races portrayed in the prison, we also get vastly different body types. Even today, that’s kind of refreshing!

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

I know I’ve raved about this before, but it’s probably got my own personal shortest time between watching and rewatching. I just adored this. I put it off for way too long because of the title, but honestly, don’t do that! It’s an incredible cast with brilliant performances and it’s a musical TV show! They are way too few and far between and rarely run as many seasons as this managed to (RIP Schmigadoon, an absolutely fantastic show cancelled way too soon).

Downton Abbey

This is another one it took me forever to get to, but fairly recently I actually watched this, and it’s so good. If you’re totally unaware, Downton Abbey takes a look at the lives of an upper class family and their servants during an incredibly tumultuous time. I haven’t yet had the chance to start on the films, but if they’re half as good as the series I think I’ll enjoy them.

Supernatural

I still need to catch up with the last few seasons of this, but recently we started it all over from the beginning, and honestly, it’s so much fun to see things develop, and it’s such an enjoyable show, it’s very easy to binge!

Lucifer

I love this show, even though I couldn’t quite make myself sit through the last season on the rewatch. Up until then, though, it’s pretty good! The characters are great, it’s got a great hook and it’s so fun to watch Tom Ellis charmingly bounce off the other actors around him.

What are your favourite bingeworthy shows? Are you always looking out for something new, or returning to old favourites? I based these on ones I’ve either rewatched or want to rewatch at some point, though I admit, an honourable mention goes to The Traitors – I wouldn’t rewatch it knowing everything that happens, but it’s so fun, and I’ve now seen UK seasons 1 and 2, Aus seasons 1 and 2, and USA season 1, though I’m partway through s2 for that now, too!
