Let’s Talk Bookish: Bookish Olympics

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme that was originally created and hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books starting in August 2019, and was then cohosted with Dani @ Literary Lion from May 2020 to March 2022. Book Nook Bits has hosted since April 2022.

Oh this is such a fun one, and I’m really excited to see what others come up with! If you take part in Let’s Talk Bookish, please do link me to your blog post so I can see your thoughts, too (this goes for any of my Let’s Talk Bookish posts, too!).

Let’s Talk Bookish August 9th:
What would you add to a bookish Olympics?

Prompts: There are just a couple days left of the 2024 Olympics! What book related events would you want to see in a bookish Olympics (e.g. speed reading)? Do you think you could win?

This is such a fun topic. Bookish Olympics would be so fun, too, and there’s definitely some events I think could fit in really nicely.

First, High TBR. Who can stack their physical TBR the highest without it actually toppling over? I’ll be honest, my bedroom at my dad’s was up in the attic, and had a nice little landing right outside – at one point, my TBR was kept in the corner of the landing, and actually managed to reach the eaves! It was a complete disaster when it came toppling down. But there’s a skill in not only stacking the TBR, but removing a book from somewhere not near the top. Maybe the next event should be TBR Jenga?

And what about the Book Toss – who can throw that book they struggled through but should have DNF’d the furthest? You can also have Sprints and Marathons – for the Sprint, everyone gets given the same novella, who can finish first? For Marathons, how many pages can you read within a set time?

As for do I think I could win – I think I’ve got a good shot at the High TBR and Book Jenga, and maybe the Sprint, but as for the others, I don’t think I’d get gold in them.

Which ones do you think you would excel at? And what kind of events would you want to see in the Bookish Olympics?
