Let’s Talk Bookish: Favorite Bookish Accessories

  Prompts: Do you collect bookish accessories? What are some bookish accessories that you can’t get enough of? Is there any type of bookish accessory that you feel is “overdone” (i.e. book mugs)? Where do you usually get your bookish accessories and do you have recommended stores to get them from?

I actually don’t collect them – not because I don’t want to or don’t like them, but largely due to money. When I do get bookish accessories, they tend to be part of something else, like a gift or book box/blind date with a book, etc. Occasionally I do get them with physical arcs, too, which is always a nice little surprise.

I especially love bookmarks and pins, and one thing on my to buy list is a board to display all my lovely pins on. I just think they’re cool little items that also tend to have quite nice practical uses! My bookmarks, when not in use, I keep in my drawer, and sometimes it’s nice to open it and have a quick rummage, looking through a variety to find the perfect one for whatever my need is at the time. Saying that though, as I do have a fairly small collection of any kind of bookish accessory, I pretty much like all of them, and would love to have more!

And related to this, I don’t think any are overdone really – it feels like bookish accessories are a relatively recent thing, and we don’t get ‘merch’ for books like you do for most other mediums, so any additions are quite welcome. Though I can understand for people who collect them there might be a couple of items they want to see more or less of.

When I do get them, like mentioned above accessories usually come as part of something else, and normally I’ve picked up book boxes and similar items from Etsy. That said…I’d love to hear people’s recommendations for where they get their items, as I really do want to add to my collection, so if there are any bookish items you collect, please do let me know.
