I’m as intrigued as always to see how I’ve done with these challenges over the last month, however I should note I’ve made attempts more recently to slow down my reading. I’ve fallen more behind on my reviews than I would like, so I’m trying to give myself a bit more time right now. And yes, that’s including the period where my Kindle was unusable, which thankfully I did manage to get sorted!

Sweeny Todd – No Place Like London – Set in OR about your hometown/city or a favourite place
The Story of Cardiff was an excellent, informative read, teaching me a lot about the history of my home city that I didn’t know. There’s a lot here, from Cardiff’s beginnings as a fort, right up to the early 21st Century, and the questions around identity that Wales and Cardiff have been wrestling with since.

Books to Read: Daisy Jones & The Six, Hazel Hill Is Gonna Win This One, Tell Me I’m Worthless

Desperate Housewives – A book featuring a group of women
I’m still listening to the audiobook of The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires and, you know what, this book is giving me chills. All the kudos to Grady Hendrix for this. I’m close enough to the end I feel confident I’ll finish this in June, but I’m enjoying the ride in the best way.

Read
Once Upon a Time – A retelling of a fairy tale
I was really looking forward to The Story of the Hundred Promises, but ultimately it’s an interesting premise let down by the execution.
Game of Thrones – A book featuring dragons
I did, however, absolutely adore Scales and Sensibility. This was such a fun read, and I’m keen to read book 2.

Books to Read: The Stars Too Fondly, Blob, Kiss Across Time
Be Curious – Non-Fiction Challenge 2025

Investigative Journalism – Uncover the secrets of this world
Under the Banner of Heaven is morbidly riveting. Something about Krakauer’s style, including an often dry wit, really keeps the book from being too heavy, too often, despite the brutal violence it discusses.
Travelling – Small routes, big routes, this country, the whole world, other worlds…
From the same author as The Fairy Tellers, Monsterland is just as interesting and engaging. Again, the style keeps me hooked, and I love the combination of folklore with travel.

Read
Memoir/Autobiography – Partake in the experiences of others…and maybe enhance your own?
We Can Be Heroes is an excellent memoir, and Paul Burston has a very entertaining writing style. Definitely well worth checking out.

Books to Read: The Early Life of Walt Disney, ADHD Unpacked, Enchanted Wales
Romance Readers Diversity Challenge 2025

No movement on this one over the last month, but should be getting on with it again soon!
Books to Read: In Memoriam, Marked by the Panther, A Midnight Kiss in Ever After Street
2025 SFF Title Challenge
4/16 (0) Prompts Completed
And again, no movement, but that’s okay – I expect I’ll be able to pick up more from this one in June.
Books to Read: Goblin Quest, The Monster MASH, The Forest of Stars
Netflix Movies & TV Shows
14/24 (0) Prompts Completed
And okay, yes, no progress here either, but as noted last month, there are some books that cross over with my other reading challenges, so I will eventually get this up from 14! Hopefully.
Books to Read: So You Want to Talk About Race, Daisy Jones & The Six, All That Remains
So, still plenty of books to read, and quite a lot I’m really looking forward to! I’m not far off finishing the books I’m currently reading, so hopefully June will get off to a good start. And as always, feel free to let me know how your reading is going, or link me to your wrap up posts.
