Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!
I couldn’t let June end without doing a Pride Month post! Need to remember for next year to include some more Pride-related themes. Anyway, for the first Monday Moods freebie, I’ve gone for sapphic, because I love sapphic books, whether that relates to a romance between the pages or simply sapphic characters!
This Week, I’m in the Mood For Something…
Sapphic
The Stars Too Fondly
Emily Hamilton

Genre: Sci-Fi – Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: June 11th, 2024
I Want to Read This Because have you seen that cover? It’s so striking and stunning! I can be hit and miss with sci-fi, but I definitely like more space odyssey, fantasy-veering stuff, and this seems like something I’d really enjoy. It’s coming up for me soon and I’m really excited!
The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet
Lindz McLeod

Genre: Historical Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: April 29th, 2025
I Want to Read This Because it’s another stunning cover! Honestly, I love this so much. I know McLeod is a good writer, too, and as soon as she announced this book I was so excited!
Tell Me I’m Worthless
Alison Rumfitt

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: October 28th, 2021
I Want to Read This Because this was a recommendation from a friend, and everything he said about it was excellent – I have learned to always trust his recs. It’s also a book with sapphic characters, but not necessarily the romance aspect, and I think more queer books outside of romance where characters aren’t always in a sapphic romance as such (or the romance isn’t a larger part of the story) is always a good thing.
All That Remains
Sheri Lewis Wohl

Genre: Paranormal Mystery
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: September 1st, 2021
I Want to Read This Because this one sounds like it’s pushing the edges of my ‘comfort zone’, in terms of what I usually read – I don’t tend to dip too much into crime, thriller, mystery etc, but I am trying a bit, and throw in a sapphic romance and the paranormal and I’ll be drawn to it.
You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight
Kalynn Bayron

Genre: Horror
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: June 20th, 2023
I Want to Read This Because I love Kalynn Bayron – a fantastic author who writes about sapphic teen Black girls, and I haven’t yet picked up a book of hers I haven’t enjoyed. She’s also just great at fusing fantasy and horror, and her stories are always gripping. I’m especially excited for this summer camp based horror.
As always, feel free to let me know if you’ve read any of these and point me towards your reviews. And if you enjoy bookish memes and want to take part in this on Mondays, the prompt page is here.
