Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!
Ah, the air is getting crisper, the leaves aren’t quite turning yet but soon will be, and here, it’s been raining. Autumn is here! Time to get snuggled up with a good book. The books today are more general vibes, the kind I like to read during the autumn months and which I’m hoping to read over this most spooky of seasons!
This Week, I’m in the Mood For…
Autumn
The Folklore of Wales: Ghosts
Delyth Badder, Mark Norman

Genre: Non-Fiction – History – Folklore
Age: Adult
Format: Hardback
Published: September 28th, 2023
I Want to Read This Because I find folklore really fascinating anyway, throw in the fact Wales has a ton of ghost folklore, but kind of scattered about here and there, and it’s great to see an attempt to draw it all together in one. I attended an event with author Delyth Badder, and she dove into some of the unique ghostly folklore of Wales, which I’m keen to see explored in the book.
Autumn in Sycamore Park
C.P. Ward

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: June 20th, 2022
I Want to Read This Because I really do enjoy seasonal romances – there’s something that connects me with them stronger than general contemporary, and I’m not quite sure why! This book looks perfect for when I want to read something seasonal that isn’t spooky during autumn!
Somebody Is Walking on Your Grave: My Cemetery Journeys
Mariana Enríquez, Translated by Megan McDowell

Genre: Non-Fiction – Memoir
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: September 25th, 2025
I Want to Read This Because oddly, I do quite like walking around graves. It can be strangely peaceful and often fascinating. It is most definitely something I’ve inherited from my dad. This is a suitably spooky book for autumn, and I guarantee I finish it with a whole list of places I want to visit.
A Hunger Like No Other
Kresley Cole

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: March 28th, 2006
I Want to Read This Because I need to state upfront I am incredibly excited for this one – I don’t know how I missed this during my Paranormal Romance phase way back when, when I craved anything to do with vampires (and ended up devouring a lot of the Anita Blake books). I’m keen to ‘go back’ in a sense, and I actually have the first four of these on my TBR, so hopefully it’s a new-to-me series that’ll keep me entertained for a long while.
Broomsticks and Board Games
Amy McNulty

Genre: Paranormal – Cozy Mystery
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: September 29th, 2020
I Want to Read This Because it just looks and sounds cute and fun! Really, no other reason…except it’s got witches, werewolves, vampires and ghosts. Perfect spooky season reading!
So, are there any particularly autumn themed books you’re looking forward to reading over the next couple of months? Or just books you think work really well in autumn! Whether they’re on your TBR or Read piles, I’d love to hear what you’re looking forward to and your book recommendations!
