Monday Moods: Christmas

Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!

It’s Christmas this week, so when better to do a Christmas Monday Moods? I love Christmas books, but I’ve been behind in my reading challenges and actually haven’t been able to read any this year! Will need to make sure that’s changed for 2026, and I am considering doing a Christmas in July thing, so we’ll see how it all goes.

This Week, I’m in the Mood For…
Christmas

The Present Predicament
Brook Peterson

Genre: Cosy Mystery
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: December 21st, 2020

I Want to Read This Because yes, this was a pick for last week, but it’s because it really does look so cute, and it’s short enough I might be able to get to it after my current read, so I’m keeping it at the top of my mind! What’s not to like about a cosy Christmas mystery?

A Merry Little Meet Cute
Julie Murphy, Sierra Simone

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: September 20th, 2022

I Want to Read This Because this is ne of those I remember every year and really, really need to get to reading – an adult film star is accidentally cast in a family-friendly Christmas film, with a co-star who is an ex-boy band member. Sounds delightful!

The Yuletide Thief
Daisy Landish

Genre: Historical Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: November 30th, 2021

I Want to Read This Because a vicar’s daughter and a highwayman, set around Christmas? Why wouldn’t I want to read this?

The Christmas Love Letters
Sue Moorcroft

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: October 26th, 2023

I Want to Read This Because romance is definitely heavily represented in my Christmas books – this one sounds like it leans more into drama though, but still offers a lovely sounding premise in the blurb. I also appreciate seeing more characters at different stages of life in romances. Normally, the romance is the first ‘big’ love a character experiences, but here, Maddy is married before the start of the book. Absolutely sounds interesting!

A Snowlit Christmas Kiss
Larissa Lyons

Genre: Historical Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: November 30th, 2024

I Want to Read This Because I’ve only read a handful of historical Christmas romances, but I really enjoyed them! I love the way authors play with Christmas in the past, and this one sounds especially interesting with a “roguish feline” who “plays matchmaker”.

As usual, if you have read any of these, I’d love to know what you thought! And feel free to drop me some recommendations below.
