Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme that was originally created and hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books starting in August 2019, and was then cohosted with Dani @ Literary Lion from May 2020 to March 2022. Book Nook Bits has hosted since April 2022.
This week is a freebie, so I looked back to April 2022 and went for April 8th topic, as I’d done April 1st previously.
January 27th: Freebie!
Eating & Reading: Yay or Nay?
(FIVES @ DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE)
Prompts: Do you ever (carefully) eat and read at the same time? Or are your books too precious to possibly get dirty? Perhaps eating and an audiobook? Do any books ever make you hungry? Is there a time and place for a nice snack or meal with a good book, or should books be focused on independently?
I used to eat and read, mainly when I worked in an office. I’d eat at my desk and read at the same time, either with my Kindle or paperback. It used to give me a good, solid block of reading, which I loved, but I don’t miss the commute! I do think sometimes I should try and get back to that reading over lunch time routine, but with working from home unfortunately other things can be a bit more tempting.
Books can sometimes make me hungry – some writers love to write about food, and the best ones definitely can have my mouth watering by the end of a sentence. I think there’s always a time and place for a nice snack or meal with a good book – if you can hold the book in one hand and eat with the other, absolutely go for it! Or if you have something that can hold the book for you. I don’t think it’s something that has to be particularly confined to one situation, though maybe it’s not the best of ideas if you’re eating somewhere with company.

I definitely snack while I read, but I don’t read during meals…usually. I’m bad at multitasking lol.
