Book Blogger Hop: April 14th – 20th

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, it was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

What is your go-to website to check out book reviews?
(submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

For a singular website, it would be Goodreads. Though sometimes if I’m deciding whether to request a book on NetGalley, I’ll have a peak at the reviews there. But definitely I mainly read them on Goodreads – sometimes this is if I’m trying to decide whether to request an arc, or purchase a book, or add it to a wish list. More often, however, I tend to read reviews either while I’m reading the book or shortly after, especially if I have a few negative feelings towards it!

Sometimes it can take a bit of hunting, but I usually find other reviews that mention whatever it is about the book I’m not enjoying. Very rarely, it might be a case of checking the reviews to see if I should DNF!

Outside of Goodreads though, I really enjoy reading reviews on blogs. I don’t seek out particular books on blogs – though I might come across some occasionally – but quite often I’ve read a review and seen the book while out, so picked it up, or I add it to my wish list, which I use as a kind of reminder of what books I want to read.

So for me, it’s Goodreads for the most part – what about you? Where do you most often read reviews?
