Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This is an interesting one – I’m not sure I could even name that many ‘mainstream popular’ authors I haven’t read. Usually if something sounds interesting, I’ll grab it, no matter who wrote it, but I admit more recently I haven’t been paying as much attention to who is popular and who isn’t. So I’m leaning on a look over Google and seeing what names I recognise pop up.
Top Ten Mainstream Popular Authors
I Haven’t Read
Colleen Hoover
I know a lot of people love her work, but it just hasn’t interested me!
John Green
Although I love YA, I think Green’s work is the kind of YA I don’t click with as much, from what I’ve heard of him. But even from the little I’ve seen I understand why he’s so popular.
Celeste Ng
This is more a case of haven’t had the chance, than anything else. I’m intrigued though, and would definitely read her work if given the opportunity.
Agatha Christie
I have no doubt her work is great, considering how well known and liked she is, but I’m not a big crime person anyway (unless there’s ghosts, or vampires, or some other paranormal element), so I’ve never picked up one of Christie’s books.
James Patterson
The books just honestly don’t interest me. That’s pretty much all there is to it.
Hilary Mantel
It’s taken me a while to get into historical fiction, and though I lean more towards romance and fantasy, I do want to dig into more of the stuff that deals with courts/royalty and the like, and maybe Mantel is an author I need to put on my “to read” list.
Colson Whitehead
This is an author I do want to read, I just haven’t had the chance yet.
Sally Rooney
I’ve seen her name doted around, but at the moment she hasn’t really intrigued me enough to pick up her work! Who knows if that’ll change though.
Dean Koontz
I’ve never read a Koontz novel…and I’m not sure why. I even have some, there’s always just been other stuff I wanted to read more!
Nicholas Sparks
I don’t think I’ve ever read a Nicholas Sparks book, and I know exactly why – some people might hate me for this, but I got a few minutes into The Notebook (the film) and absolutely hated it. It’s just not for me, and I don’t think Sparks’ books would be, either.
So there we have it! Are any of these favourite authors for you and you think I’m totally missing out? What big names are you yet to read or just totally not interested in? Or even…any ‘popular mainstream’ authors you read and were largely disappointed by?

Colleen Hoover has been a very popular pick this week.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

I know she’s a known, popular author but I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who’s actually read her stuff?
