A new year, and more attempts to try and reduce the books on my Goodreads TBR shelf. Did you know after a certain number of books on your shelf, things get a little…buggy? Anyway! The books do have the number they are on my shelf noted beside them, though of course this changes if one is removed, it helps me to keep track of where I am now I’ve gone over 100. And an update on my last post: I did, eventually, finish Under the Dome, which was the oldest book on my TBR, and has now gone as it’s been marked as Read, finally!

122. Five Great Novels: The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch / Martian Time-Slip / Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? / Ubik / A Scanner Darkly
Philip K. Dick

Genre: Sci-Fi
Published: May 1st, 2004
I have read Do Androids Dream… though many years ago. I would read more Philip K. Dick if the opportunity presented itself, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to, and I’d rather pick up and read these books separately rather than in one big volume.
Status: Gone
123. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Other Tales of Terror
Robert Louis Stevenson

Genre: Horror – Short Stories
Published: January 5th, 1886
Similarly, I’ve read The Strange Case… and though I might read it again either in this book or a similar one, again, I’m not going to go out of my way to do so, and I think I’d pick this up when the time is right whether or not I have it on my Want to Read shelf.
Status: Gone
124. The Vampire Companion: The Official Guide to Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles
Katherine Ramsland, Anne Rice

Genre: Horror – Non-Fiction
Published: December 10th, 1991
Yes! I love books like this, and I’d be really keen to dive in and see what sort of observations were made about these books way back in 1991. I have been meaning to reread the earlier Vampire Chronicles books, too, so maybe getting my hands on this will give me the push to dive back in with them.

125. The Stephen King Companion
George Beahm

Genre: Horror – Non-Fiction
Published: January 1st, 1989
Again, I love books like these, that give in an insight into a particular author, and considering how much King I have read, I’m definitely eager to read some of the many books surrounding him and his work.

126. Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs, and Some Other Things
Edited by Eli Horowitz, Ted Thompson

Genre: Fantasy – Short Stories
Published: January 1st, 2005
I’m definitely intrigued. This sounds like a unique collection with some big names attached, and yes I did shorten the title above because the actual one wouldn’t quite fit, I don’t think. I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on this at all.

Thoughts? Have you read any of these? What about your own ‘Want to Read’ shelf – is it hugely out of control, or do you manage to keep it down to a decent level?
