That Dreaded TBR #57

I get a strange amount of joy out of doing these posts, which is great as I think I’ll be doing them for a long, long time to come! Hopefully by the time I eventually (if ever) get to the end, I’ll have wiped off some other books by actually reading them. I am making an effort to do that, though it’s slow going as I’m also cautious about adding even more books to my actual owned TBR. But we’ll see.

Part 56

130. The Elephant Tree
R.D. Ronald

Genre: Thriller
Published: August 23rd, 2010

Something that instantly turns me off a book nowadays – there are three characters mentioned here in the summary, Mark is described as ‘overworked’, Scott is ‘dejected’ – okay, great, we know their mental states, that’s useful. The third character, however, is Angela – who is ‘attractive’. Ugh. No thank you.

131. Replay
Ken Grimwood

Genre: Sci-Fi
Published: January 1st, 1987

This one just sounds kind of boring, and there’s nothing particularly grabbing me from the summary. Definitely won’t be trying this one any time soon.

132. Demonsong
F. Paul Wilson

Genre: Horror
Published: February 1st, 2014

A sort of familiar name, but I can’t quite remember why. There’s not really any information in the summary unless, I’m guessing, you’ve read other books in this series. So, it’s possibly I might come back to this at some point, if I end up reading the series, but right now I don’t think it’s worth keeping it on the list.

133. The Eye of the World
Robert Jordan

Genre: Fantasy
Published: January 15th, 1990

Yes, I do still want to read this one, and I do actually own it, though I’m not completely and utterly sure where exactly it is right now – but I’ll get to it eventually!

Status: Keep

134. Exit Kingdom
Alden Bell

Genre: Horror
Published: September 1st, 2012

Yes, I do still want to read this one, but I might need to reread The Reapers are the Angels first, before diving into the sequel – might be a case of getting hold of this and making sure I read them fairly close together. But yeah, this is definitely staying on the TBR.

Status: Keep

Not a bad effort for today, with 3 books removed. Hopefully I can keep these numbers going down, and eventually my Goodreads won’t be, well, as glitchy! If you’ve read any of these or have any thoughts on my choices, I’d love to hear what you think!
