Looks like I’m still with the horror anthologies for the time being, seems towards the end of 2013 I was searching out a lot of horror, and using anthologies to try and gage whether I wanted to read this or that author. Problem is there are so many excellent anthologies out there now that tend to be more…diverse than the ones available back then, though there maybe these ones will still catch my eye. We’ll see.
If you’re interested in numbers, part 65 means before this instalment, I’ve gone through 320 books. The first book today is currently 149, which means so far I’ve removed 172 books from my Want to Read shelf. I’m pretty happy with that, especially as it’s over half the books I’ve gone through.

149. Prime Evil: New Stories by the Masters of Modern Horror
Edited by Douglas E. Winter

Genre: Horror
Published: June 23rd, 1988
There’s nothing here that massively entices me – maybe once upon a time, but there are so many anthologies out there, and there aren’t any authors here I’m massively desperate to read more short stories from. Authors I might like, sure, maybe, but yeah, nothing that makes me jump for joy.

150. Peaceable Kingdom
Jack Ketchum

Genre: Horror
Published: August 20th, 2003
I haven’t yet read any of Jack Ketchum’s work. I do want to, but to be honest if I dig into his work I’ll likely start with one of his novels, something more well regarded and probably with a recommendation from a friend! This might land on my lap at some point after, but for now…

151. Blue World
Robert McCammon

Genre: Horror
Published: January 1st, 1989
Similarly to the previous one, really – I haven’t read McCammon, and I want to, but I’ll probably start elsewhere than with this one!

152. The Living Dead
John Joseph Adams

Genre: Horror
Published: September 1st, 2008
For some reason I thought I’d read this one, but apparently not. There are quite a few names here I really like (and, er, one I really, strongly don’t!) so it is one I’d be quite interested in checking out still.

153. The Mammoth Book of Haunted House Stories
Edited by Peter Haining

Genre: Horror
Published: September 1st, 2008
I do tend to really like Mammoth Books, and they have some excellent titles – and plenty that I still haven’t read but totally, really want to! Including this one!
Status: Keep
This is pretty good going, with three more books removed from my want to read shelf! I’m quite happy with that. As always, if you’ve read any of these, and/or agree, disagree with my choices, I’d love to hear from you!
