Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Summer 2024 To-Read List

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

I’ve mentioned before how much I enjoy doing these TBR lists. Before I started doing reading challenges, these helped me focus my reading. Now with the reading challenges, they give me another chance to see what sort of books I have ahead of me. Like my Spring TBR, this one will be focused on my current reading challenges.

Summer 2024 TBR

The First Days by Rhiannon Frater (Disney Reading Challenge 2024) / Shakespeare by Bill Bryson (Musicals Reading Challenge 2024)

Although I did manage to read Gay Aliens recently, I unfortunately didn’t get around to Shakespeare! The various reading challenges are kind of catching up to each other though, so I think I am on track to read this one relatively soon (I hope). These are both physical books, and they tend to now take me a bit longer to get to and through than the ebooks, so we’ll see.

A Radical Act of Free Magic by H.G. Parry (Avengers Challenge!) / Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé (Barbie Reading Challenge) / So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo (Netflix Movies & TV Shows)

Again, although I did manage to read the physical book for the Avengers challenge that I mentioned previously, I didn’t get to Ace of Spades. I almost did, but that was because I thought I had it in ebook format as well as physical, and turns out I don’t. So, fingers crossed I’ll actually get to these sometime soon. And fingers crossed I can jump back onto the Netflix challenge soon, as I have just got bonus prompts left for the Avengers challenge and am not that far off finishing the Barbie one.

The Wicked Ones by Robin Benway (Disney Reading Challenge 2024) / Gambling on the Duke’s Daughter by Diana Bold (Musicals Reading Challenge 2024)

Jumping over to the ebooks now, I’m definitely expecting to clear these, especially as glancing over my Spring TBR I did read all the ebooks and audiobooks listed, so these shouldn’t be a problem. And I’m very much looking forward to both of these.

A Better World by Sarah Langan (Avengers Challenge!) / A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole (Barbie Reading Challenge) / Hexed by Julia Tuffs (Netflix Movies & TV Shows)

I’m skipping over the audiobooks on my current TBR but these are two ebooks I’m hoping to read soon and a physical (A Hunger Like No Other) that does actually appear on another reading challenge. Again, trying to fit the Netflix challenge in. I actually only have 3 more books on the Avengers challenge to complete all the bonus prompts, and 10 more books to read on the Barbie challenge, with 11 left on the Netflix one. Avengers and Netflix aren’t restricted by year, but I definitely think there’s a high chance I’ll finish Avengers before the next TBR.

So, ten of the books on my TBR for the next few months! What’s on your TBR at the moment? Did you manage to clear your Spring TBR or, like me, are you still working through some of them? I admit, I got a bit side tracked from some of it by shifting my focus to books for Pride in Horror Month over at Divination Hollow, but I should get back on track fairly soon!
