#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
This week’s prompt is actually “Need a BUDDY for this READ”, but honestly, I’m not a Buddy Read type of person. So, I amended it slightly to just Buddies, and pulled books from my TBR that focus on friendships.
#5OnMyTBR September 16th: Buddies
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: Audiobook
Published: April 7th, 2020
Why I Want to Read: Because it’s about a book club of mothers who love true crime and suspense, who slowly start to realise there’s something strange about their new neighbour. I heard really good things about this when it came out, and I love the focus on mothers doing things outside their mother-routines.
Fear Ground by Jennifer Killick

Genre: Horror
Age: Middle Grade
Format: Paperback
Published: September 1st, 2022
Why I Want to Read: I really liked Dread Wood – it read like a modern Goosebumps, and I’m excited to dive into the sequel. I also have the next one here, as well as Killick’s other series, Crater Lake, mainly because as much as I loved Dread Wood, my partner loved it even more, and was desperate to read the next ones, so I ended up picking up a few for him. I’ve been slow in getting to Fear Ground, but he’s absolutely devoured all the ones we’ve got so far.
Broomsticks and Board Games by Amy McNulty

Genre: Paranormal Mystery
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: September 29th, 2020
Why I Want to Read: I really can’t resist a good witchy book, throw in a dash of mystery and some other paranormal creatures and I’m sold. And this looks so cute!
House of Bone and Rain by Gabino Iglesias

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: August 6th, 2024
Why I Want to Read: So, despite Gabino being one of my favourite people in horror, I have yet to read his work! But I have seen his writing career go from strength to strength, and this looks really interesting. There’s just something about horror centred around childhood friends that face something unimaginable, and I’m keen to finally check out Gabino’s work.
Tell Me I’m Worthless by Alison Rumfitt

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: October 28th, 2021
Why I Want to Read: This was suggested to me by a friend who always has excellent book recommendations, and I really can’t resist a good haunted house story. It sounds intriguing and right up my street, and I’m really hoping I can get to this before the end of the year!

I’m very much looking forward to all of these, which have different types of friendships involved. Are there any books focusing on friendships you’ve really loved? Have you read any of these? Do let me know what you thought!

I think these books look like good reads.
