Here we are with my final update for the 2024 Reading Challenges. I…didn’t do as well at these as I would have liked, but I’m still somewhat proud of my progress. I did manage to complete two of the challenges – though one was short, and the other was the Musicals challenge I created myself. I’m really hoping that by doing smaller challenges, I can complete more. I also definitely feel like I’ve learned more how I want to approach these, too, for 2025.

Read
Donald Duck – As someone to choose your next read
I decided not to continue with this one for 2025, but it was a really fun one and I have been a little sad to let it go! Still, it’s quite a big one and some of the prompts were pretty hard to find books for, but I’m okay with the progress I had made through 2024. The last book I read for this was Gay Britannia, which I very much enjoyed and would highly recommend.

Read
Newsies – Seize the Day – About or involving unions and/or workers’ rights
The Enemy Within was a really interesting if dense read, and took me a fair while to get through it. I think if I hadn’t picked such a long, information-heavy book, I might have been able to clear more books from other challenges, but I was keen to read this and glad I did.

Barbie Reading Challenge

Read
Watati – A mystery or thriller book
For this one, I went with Heartbreak Incorporated – I did have Ace of Spades to read for this, and was really looking forward to it, but didn’t have time for another physical book, so I went for an ebook instead. It was okay, but could have been much stronger.
What Was I Made For? – The book you most recently bought
At the time I added Love That Journey For Me, it was the most recent book…so it still counts, right? This was definitely one I really, really wanted to read this year, and it was a nice short one to end the year on, plus it gave me great comfort during a difficult time. So I think this was the right choice.

Netflix Movies & TV Shows
14/24 (0) Prompts Completed
I think I can actually make some decent progress on this in the next few months – it’s taking me a long time to complete this one, and it’s one that keeps getting pushed to the side, but I’m trying to use the books I have for this for other challenges. I’ll give it a few months and if I’m still struggling to make any progress, I might need to look at the books I’m using and make some slight adjustments.
Books to Read: So You Want to Talk About Race, Daisy Jones & The Six, All That Remains
I also completed the Avengers Challenge! in 2024, which was a lot of fun. There were 6 prompts for this plus 5 bonus prompts. Are you doing any reading challenges in 2025? Have you done them before and giving them a miss this year? I’d love to hear from you and what you think!
