Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!
‘Exciting’ can mean so many different things, can’t it? Maybe the cover itself shows excitement, or you’re particularly excited about a certain book, or maybe it’s the tension and excitement of the plot itself that draws you in. If you tackle this week’s prompt, let me know what sort of angle you went for. As for me, I kind of did a little of all those things I mentioned…
This Week, I’m in the Mood For Something…
Exciting
The Mercury in Me
Rachael Fernandes

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Young Adult
Format: ebook
Published: June 6th, 2024
I Want to Read This Because the cover is adorable! Honestly, I love everything about it, especially the way the FMC has her fist in the air. The links to Freddie Mercury make me feel extra sure I’m going to enjoy this. And doesn’t the cover just scream excitement?
Ahsoka
E. K. Johnston

Genre: Sci-Fi
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: October 11th, 2016
I Want to Read This Because my partner really wants me to. Ahsoka is one of his favourite Star Wars characters, and when I was looking at my reading challenges at the start of the year, I asked him to pick out some books based on the prompts. He was over the moon to find one for Ahsoka! I think this will be exciting because, well, it’s Star Wars, and Star Wars tends to be a pretty exciting franchise.
The Wedding Witch
Erin Sterling

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: October 15th, 2024
I Want to Read This Because I loved the first two books in this series, and I know Sterling crafts steamy, exciting books with plenty of magic and mishaps to keep readers on their toes. This one sounds like it takes a different approach than the first two, as well, moving the action away from the American town of Graves Glen and keeping it in Wales, and I’m very intrigued about how Sterling handles my country.
A Raven’s Heart
K.C. Bateman

Genre: Historical Romance (Regency)
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: October 18th, 2016
I Want to Read This Because I really enjoyed Book 1, and definitely found the blend of romance and regency-era espionage exciting! I have no doubt book 2 will provide just as many thrills.
The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy
Brigitte Knightley

Genre: Fantasy Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Publishing: July 8th, 2025
I Want to Read This Because just look at that cover!! It’s stunning and striking and instantly I’m drawn in by the slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers premise. Also, the FMC is a scientist! Everything about this book is exciting!
So, there we have it – five more books on my TBR, and hopefully five exciting books! As always, if you’ve read any of these and would like to share your thoughts, I’d love to hear them!
