Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!
‘Youthful’ feels like it could apply to a wide variety of books, whether it’s books with young protagonists or books about people in their early years (as below), books aimed at all ages can have a ‘youthful’ feel to them. I’ve tried to go for a mix in the books below I think will be youthful, and these are all pulled from my reading challenges, so they should be coming up for me fairly soon.
This Week, I’m in the Mood For Something…
Youthful
The Early Life of Walt Disney
Andrew Stanley Kiste

Genre: Non-Fiction – Biography
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: September 17th, 2021
I Want to Read This Because I’ve mentioned under a previous Monday Moods post that I’m intrigued by Disney – I think seeing his early life will be interesting, and it sounds like this book will give a decent insight on the influences on both Disney’s films and the parks.
The Mercury in Me
Rachael Fernandes

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Young Adult
Format: ebook
Published: June 6th, 2024
I Want to Read This Because it looks so cute! The MC is 17-year-old Maya, and it revolves around Maya’s life at school and the struggles she’s facing, and sounds like she seeks solace in music. The cover just screams ‘youth’, too, with the MC featured prominently mimicking Freddie Mercury’s famous pose. I love it.
The Forest of Stars
Heather Kassner

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Middle Grade
Format: ebook
Published: August 4th, 2020
I Want to Read This Because it sounds cute and magical. I love the cover too, and find it really intriguing. It revolves around a carnival, too, and that’s usually an interesting setting.
Hazel Hill Is Gonna Win This One
Maggie Horne

Genre: Contemporary
Age: Middle Grade
Format: ebook
Published: October 18th, 2022
I Want to Read This Because it’s another one that just looks so cute, and I think it’s going to be quite a sweet, uplifting, joyous story overall.
What Once Was Mine
Liz Braswell

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Young Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: September 7th, 2021
I Want to Read This Because there was a time when I was reading this series almost as soon as new ones came out, and years ago it even helped me find an author who has now become a long-time favourite! So, I really want to get back into it, and I’m excited that my next one is Rapunzel.
So, those are my ‘Monday Moods’ for this week. And if you haven’t seen it, prompts for July have now been updated! I hope you’re enjoying these and if you do have any suggestions for future Moods, just let me know.
