Book Review: Marked by the Panther by Zoey Indiana

Format: ebook
Published: December 28th, 2021
Age: Adult
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Rating: 4/5 Stars

This book was so much fun, slightly ridiculous, and the kind of book you whizz through just to find out what happens next and how the main couple will navigate the challenges they face.

Jaden was part of the shifter black ops, but after a mission goes wrong, he struggles with what to do next. Then, his friend offers an opportunity; a shifter security force, with their first job being to protect a group of humans who have put themselves forward for a speed dating event. But when Jaden and his fellow shifters meet the women taking part, something strange happens, and each member of each group finds their fated mates standing right in front of them. For Piper, it should be a dream come true, after founding Mateless Mates for human women, but she knows she has to proceed with caution, no matter how much she wants Jaden.

There’s a fun back and forth here, as Piper especially navigates what it really means to be a human in the shifter world. Then a curveball is thrown at them; a secret, shadowy organisation is determined to keep humans and shifters separated.

The book is paranormal romance with plenty of action and lots of tension. Admittedly, if you’re a fan of logic, you might want to skip this; there are times I found Piper to be just a touch frustrating in the way she responded to Jaden, but then it often worked to serve the story itself. Overall, this is the kind of book you can just enjoy without thinking too deep, as long as you let yourself get a bit swept up in it all.
