Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!
Winter has well and truly arrived! It was a little mild over Halloween, and again over my birthday – we ventured out for a workshop a few days after and found it relatively warm heading into town, and went for Sunday lunch the following day, and the temperature had truly dropped! Now I’m sitting here in a snoodie and with a blanket, doing my best to stay warm. So it feels like a good time to spotlight some of the winter themed books on my TBR.
This Week, I’m in the Mood For…
Winter
Three Holidays and a Wedding
Uzma Jalaluddin, Marissa Stapley

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: September 23rd, 2023
I Want to Read This Because I really hope I get to this one this year – this sounds like such a fun read, featuring two characters who cross paths when they’re both flying to Toronto, one to her sister’s wedding, and the other to meet her boyfriend’s family. I feel like it’s not often recently I’ve read books focusing on more than one couple, so I’m keen to see how this pans out!
Cold Snap
Lindy Ryan

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: October 15th, 2024
I Want to Read This Because how often do we get holiday themed books outside of Romance? I want more! I want to see holidays celebrated in fantasy and I want to see holiday horror like we already have in films! Even the title of the book sends me shivering (because of temperature, not like…fear). It doesn’t have the best reviews, but I’m keen to make up my own mind on this one.
Nutcracker with Benefits
Liz Alden

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: October 18th, 2022
I Want to Read This Because holiday romances can, however, be incredibly fun. And this sounds fun! Two friends with benefits, one the sexiest billionaire bachelor of the year. I haven’t read a whole load of billionaire romances, but I can see the appeal!
Winter’s Wishfall
Ceri Houlbrook

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: October 12th, 2023
I Want to Read This Because I love that Christmas allows contemporary romance to drift into fantasy, often in the form of a mysterious white haired old man who nudges the couple together (see also: Christmas romance films). This sounds different and intriguing, as Ellie accepts a mysterious job on a tiny Scottish Island. I’m in!
The Frost Touched Queen
Ivy Fox

Genre: Fantasy Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: March 24th, 2023
I Want to Read This Because it sounds really fun! Why Choose, enemies to lovers, royal romance, with a queen who is facing three kings trying to prevent her being queen. Should be…intriguing, I think.
As always, if you’ve read any of these and want to share your thoughts, I’d love to hear them! And let me know of your winter books recommendations!
