Let’s Talk Bookish: Festive Reads

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme that was originally created and hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books starting in August 2019, and was then cohosted with Dani @ Literary Lion from May 2020 to March 2022. Book Nook Bits has hosted since April 2022, with Dini at Dini Panda Reads as co-host from February 2025.

This week’s topic for LTB is Anticipated Releases, but as I’m not the best at keeping up with new/upcoming releases (though there are some exciting 2026 books on my TBR!) I thought I’d go back and revisit a topic I wanted to make sure I got to during December.

Let’s Talk Bookish 19th December:
Festive Reads

Prompts: Do you read holiday/winter-themed reads? Do you have any on your TBR this December? What have been favorites from past years? Are there any festive books you like to re-read during the holidays?

I try to, but I admit I haven’t quite been able to pick up any for this year! I blame the Reading Challenges, as usually by this point in the year I can add some holiday themed books to them, or have more breathing room to enjoy some festive reads. It just hasn’t happened this year, but I have plenty on my TBR for when I am able to get round to them. Maybe I’ll do a Christmas in July and see if I can read some mid-year, instead.

So, although I don’t have any specifically for this December on my TBR, I do have some for future years ready to go. And quite a few I’m really excited for, whenever I get to them. I guess it’s a case of watch this space – like mentioned above, if I can squeeze a few into the reading challenges, I’ll see if I feel in a festive mood throughout the year.

I don’t often reread books, so I don’t have any I re-read during the holidays.

As for past favourites, some of the festive reads I’ve absolutely adored over the years are –

  • Gothic Blue Book VI: A Krampus Carol Edited by Cynthia Pelayo & Gerardo Pelayo (Horror)
  • #The Leftover Bride by Elodie Nowodazkikj (Contemporary Romance)
  • Humbug by Amanda Radley (Sapphic Contemporary Romance)
  • The Sh!te Before Christmas by Serena Terry (Contemporary Comedy)
  • Christmas Ever After by Jaimie Admans (Contemporary Romance)

So, if you are looking for something to read over Christmas, these are the ones I’d suggest picking up! And if you do have any recommendations for me, please do let me know.

  1. I totally feel you. I thought I’d at least have read one or two festive reads by this point in the month but nope it’s not happened yet. I’m still aiming to get at least one in before the year ends, so let’s see how that goes. I haven’t heard of any of the ones that you’ve recommended but I do have Good Spirits on my TBR and I’ve heard incredible things about it.

Thanks for joining LTB this week!
