We are diving back into my Want to Read shelf today, seeing which books I still want to read and which I’m no longer interested in. It’s been a pretty fun journey so far, and considering there are a ridiculous amount of books on that shelf, this is probably going to keep going for a long time. The books I’ve been looking at recently were added to this shelf in December 2013, and today’s are no different.
RULES
Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5/10/however many books. If done again, start from where you left off.

170. The Fifth Head of Cerberus
Gene Wolfe

Genre: Sci-Fi Fantasy
Published: April 1st, 1972
I’ve heard good stuff about Gene Wolfe and I think this book sounds intriguing enough – the fact it’s three stories woven together makes it that bit more appealing, too. I think curiosity wins out with this.

171. Public Enemy Zero
Andrew Mayne

Genre: Sci-Fi Thriller
Published: December 7th, 2013
No to this one, for the same reason as similar books I’ve gone through during this series – they’re just all so samey! It has been interesting to look back at this explosion of zombie books, but I really no longer have an interest in the vast majority.

172. Pines
Blake Crouch

Genre: Horror Thriller
Published: August 21st, 2012
This one just doesn’t entice me? The premise sounds like one you have to really be hooked by instantly to be intrigued, and though I have no doubt this book has fans, it just doesn’t really grab me.

173. Year Zero
Rob Reid

Genre: Sci-Fi
Published: July 1st, 2012
Okay – this sounds like it could be pretty funny. Humour, I think, is something that can really date a book pretty quickly, but I think I’m willing to give this a go and see if it holds up.

174. The Final Reckoning
Sam Bourne

Genre: Historical Thriller
Published: January 1st, 2008
I’m going to be honest – the first blurb I read was incredibly short, and gave me nothing, I switched over to a different edition to get some more info. I can see where this might be attractive to many, but I don’t think I’ve ever been interested in this kind of action thriller. This one isn’t for me.

I’m quite happy with the results – I’m always pleased when I can reduce my Want to Read, even by a little, so 3 down is great!
