Well here we are at the end of another year. 2021 has, quite frankly, been one hell of a ride, and not necessarily in a good way. This time a year ago we were back in another lockdown, but this one felt almost hopeful, with the vaccines being rolled out and the possibility of some return to some element of normality. But, well, 2021 kind of kicked my arse. That start of year lockdown was in some ways worse than the first one, with it being colder, wetter, not the kind of weather to walk out and about in, and just general frustration at the whole situation.
But! Well, we’re going into a New Year, right? Yet again a time of hope and optimism – hopefully! I think I’ve switched over now to ‘take every day as it comes’. I’m hoping we can continue to avoid Covid, and if things go to plan, 2022 will (fingers crossed!) see a slight improvement in financial situations, which would be very welcome.
I read almost 100 books this year, which I’m quite happy with. A large number were 5 and 4 Star books, but there were also four 2 Star, one 1 Star, and a DNF, which prompted me to create a ‘DNF’ shelf on Goodreads. I read a good mix of books, too, and managed to pick up more Romances, as well as finishing The Monster Show, which I had been reading on and off since May 2020.
Next year, I’m going to slow down a little. For a lot of 2021, I was trying to read arcs about six weeks before they were released, and though I will still do this, I’m going to try and clear more of my backlist. I’ll also be spending the first part of the year reading through books for specific events on Divination Hollow, and I’m really looking forward to digging into some of these.
Hopefully 2022 will be different than the last couple of years, but I’m not holding out too much hope. But we’ll see.
So all that’s left to say, to everyone reading this, thank you so much for your continued support, for visiting this site, commenting on or liking my posts and, of course –
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, Elle! 100 books! Wow. I managed 29. I need to pick up the pace in 2022. 🙂
