Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Ah, a new year – but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to look back on 2022! And today’s TTT gives a great opportunity to do just that. I always find “favourite” lists so hard, because I find I really enjoy a lot of what I’ve read. So there will be some things missing here, but always remember any “best” or “favourite” lists are going to be totally subjective, and even with books I haven’t particularly liked, there’s going to be those out there who love them. I’m including all books I read last year here, not just books released in 2022.
Top Ten Favourite Books of 2022

The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 1: The Faust Act
Starting with one of the best graphic novels I read this year – I absolutely loved this, and really enjoyed Volume 2 as well. Can’t believe I went this long before reading it!

Thanks to watching Bridgerton, 2022 was the year I really started reading Regency Romance. And what fun it’s been! This was a great place to start to, a classic of the genre by Georgette Heyer, it still holds up wonderfully.

This book was beautiful and dark and I loved every second of it – I still really need to pick up the second book, and I’m hoping to do so this year (as if there isn’t enough on my TBR already…)

V.E. Schwab is one of my absolute favourite writers, so it’s no surprise I really loved this book. It’s a really great YA Gothic novel.

The first book by T. Kingfisher I’ve read, and it’s brilliant. Dark Fantasy with great characters.

I read this as it was the winner of BBNYA, and honestly if you like Paranormal/Urban Fantasy books, this is a great one. I fell in love with Jack and am hoping to pick up the second one book sometime this year.

A powerful and heart-breaking novel from a very talented writer. This is definitely one of those books that stays with you for a long time after.

A wonderfully enjoyable Regency Romance Fantasy novel. I love Historical Fantasy, and this was no exception.

This was an absolutely beautiful, sweeping Regency Romance with a trans woman protagonist. Viola is such a wonderful character to follow. I found this just a touch on the long side, but the characters more than make up for the length.

I absolutely loved this fantasy novel about witches, and it really does deserve all the praise. If you like Fantasy in a modern setting, I definitely recommend checking this out.
How was your reading for 2022? Did you find any new favourites?
I’ve heard excellent things about This Poison Heart!
