Prompts: Do you enjoy collecting books? Do you feel like physical books are overpriced? Do you buy books after you’ve read them to add to your collection? Do you buy special edition collector sets? How invested are you in your book collection?
I do enjoy collecting them. I don’t think most physical books are overpriced, but it really depends. The majority of paperbacks are reasonable, and if you don’t mind books a little pre-loved, charity and second hand book shops can be brilliant to walk around and pick stuff out from. If I get a book via, say, NetGalley, I don’t usually then buy the book, though I might get it as a gift for someone else.
I don’t buy special editions, mainly because of money – they’re fairly expensive, and the type of books I feel like I’d be afraid to read, lest I damage them in some way! I do have a few special hardback books though, and I really love these. I feel pretty invested, but every now and then I do try and do a clear out, and make attempts at being just a little ruthless.
