Let’s Talk Bookish: Books That Feel Like Fall

September 22nd: Books That Feel Like Fall

Prompts: It’s officially fall! What books do you want to read this fall? Are there any books or genres that give off autumn vibes to you? Are there any books that you just wouldn’t read during fall?

There’s a few books I’m hoping to read during autumn, which I highlighted in the most recent Top Ten Tuesday, but mostly outside of challenges I’m hoping to read a couple of horror books, and if I get a chance there’s some more kind of ‘cosy’ paranormal books I’d like to dig into. But we’ll see how it goes.

I definitely veer more towards horror during autumn, though it’s a good time to dig into almost anything with “small town” vibes, whether it’s contemporary romances or paranormal romances. There’s been a witchy trend in recent years that I absolutely love, and they’re perfect for this time of the year. Almost anything with a woodsy/forest vibe seems, oddly, well suited to this time of year, too.

There’s nothing I won’t particularly read during any time of the year, but I definitely skirt away from more sunny, beachy reads, especially in romances. It’s not always a specific type of book, either – there might be a horror or romance or fantasy novel that just looks more summery, or feels like a good spring book, so I might put it aside for then. Winter books, however, are a bit different, as I do try and start reading these towards the end of autumn, to get as many books – especially Christmas ones – read and ready to review in December.

What about you – any particular books you enjoy reading this time of the year, or ones you avoid for different months? What’s on your TBR for this autumn?

  1. Books with small town vibes are so perfect for fall – really anything that feels like Gilmore Girls to me is perfect for the season! I hope you’re having a great start to fall! 🙂
