Yes, back to my quest to get my TBR down a bit at a time. I think going forward I’m going to note what number book they currently are on my TBR, too, to help me keep track of it, especially now I’m over 100. The good news is I have managed to remove the oldest book from my Goodreads Want to Read shelf. Going back all the way to August 2019, my very first Dreaded TBR post, and there right at the start is Stephen King’s Under the Dome. I haven’t finished it yet, but I am finally reading it, and that feels like a win to me.

120. Blood Red Road
Moira Young

Genre: Dystopia
Published: June 7th, 2011
I’m kind of bored just reading that synopsis. It sounds by this point overdone, and where it’s been done since, done in a possibly better way. This book clearly has its fans from the GR reviews, but I won’t be rushing to get this on my shelf.

121. The Remaining
D.J. Molles

Genre: Horror – Zombies

Ah, zombies. Again. And military. This is…not going to be my cup of tea. I think too when something tries really, really hard not to use the z word in the summary, it feels like they’re trying to do something different but it’s typically not that different? Don’t get me wrong, like a lot of the books I don’t think I’ll click with, this one might have its fans, it’s just not for me.

Mark Tufo

Genre: Horror – Zombies

I’m honestly starting to wonder if I’ll ever escape the horde of zombie books on my want to read. And look, this one is…anti-vax??? Yeah, vaccines turning people into zombies leaves a bad taste in my mouth now and as someone who did actually have swine flu…just ew. At least make up a virus instead? Nothing about this one looks appealing.

123. Some Kind of Fairy Tale
Graham Joyce

Genre: Fantasy
Published: July 10th, 2012
Some of these books I see I have to sit back and wonder, why is this on here? I mean, a lot of them came out over 10 years ago and probably got added to my Want to Read shelf around 10 years ago, so I think that’s fair. A little bit of digging and it seems I read a different book by the same author, and enjoyed it enough I wanted to check out more of his work. And this one sounds intriguing – largely because I rated another book 4 stars, I’ll check this out at some point.

124. Stephen King Illustrated Companion
Bev Vincent

Genre: Non-Fiction – Biography
Published: January 1st, 2009
I think we established previously that pretty much any King non-fiction that crops up on my Want to Read is going to stay. And I’m saying this even as I’m struggling to get through Under the Dome, but I am really fascinated by King and what must be in a mind that can conjure up all the horrors he does!

I got rid of three more books on my Want to Read shelf, and I’m pretty happy with that, though I admit I still have way, way too many on there. It’s amazing how books build up, whether you own them or not, isn’t it? As always, if you’ve read any of these and have things to say on my choices, I’d love to hear from you!
