#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.
I love the letter prompts for these – it makes it very easy, but it also reminds me of some books I otherwise occasionally overlook a little! (Alliteration there unintentional.) It usually also means books in different formats/from different sources, so that’s always good to be able to pull from across my various TBRs.
#5OnMyTBR August 12th: Title Starting with an ‘I’

Genre: Historical
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: March 7th, 2023
Why I Want to Read: I’ve realised I really want to read more queer historical fiction – including romance, but outside it, too. I think queer history is so incredibly important, and it’s great to have writers highlighting what queer folks had to endure in the past. I expect this one will feel quite emotional.
Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice

Genre: Horror – Paranormal – Gothic
Age: Adult
Format: Audiobook
Published: April 12th, 1972
Why I Want to Read: I don’t often reread books, but I have been meaning to reread this (again) for a long time, especially after watching the TV series. Season 2 made me more determined, so I grabbed it on audio. I’m so looking forward to diving back into this series.
In the Shadow of the Fall by Tobi Ogundiran

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: July 23rd, 2024
Why I Want to Read: I feel like I don’t often see fantasy novellas, and this one sounds like it has a lot going on – I’m intrigued by how it’s going to all fit into 160 pages. The blurb definitely makes me interested in the MC, too, who struggles when other priests pass her by and advance ahead of her.

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Young Adult
Format: Hardback
Published: January 14th, 2020
Why I Want to Read: Why wouldn’t I want to read this? Honestly, queer urban fantasy about a magical war, sounds excellent, and I heard so many great things about this when it first came out, hence why I picked it up. I just…haven’t got to it yet.

Genre: Horror
Age: Young Adult
Format: ebook
Release Date: October 1st, 2024
Why I Want to Read: I haven’t actually read any of Cesare’s work, but I have heard really great stuff, and I was excited to see he’s coming out with a new YA novel that takes a look at influencer culture. This is an expanded version of the Audible Original, but I’m going to skip over the Audible version and focus on the ebook.
Have you read any of these or are they on your TBR? Do you have any particular books starting with I you’re looking forward? Let me know in the comments!

Some great picks there – will have to check them out. I’m also really looking forward to Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune in September. If you like queer fantasy I’d highly recommend checking out some of his writing if you haven’t already!
