#5OnMyTBR: Lighthearted

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook  and you can learn more about it here. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR.

I did try and pull this week’s book from my reading challenges, but unfortunately I really didn’t have many lighthearted books on them! But I did have a couple, and the others come from my more general TBRs. These are also books I’m really looking forward to – something you just need something light, that’s likely to give you a bit of a chuckle!

#5OnMyTBR September 9th: Lighthearted

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: November 5th, 2019

Why I Want to Read: I really loved Take a Hint, Dani Brown, so I’m very excited to go back to the first book in the series! Hibbert has a lovely writing style that’s an absolute joy, and I laughed a fair few times in Take a Hint, so I’m expecting this one to be fairly funny, too.

America’s Next Reality Star by Laura Heffernan

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: March 7th, 2017

Why I Want to Read: This just sounds really fun, and the cover is cute! It seems like an interesting take on ‘reality TV’, and I’m hopeful this will have some funny moments.

Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Audiobook
Published: November 10th, 2020

Why I Want to Read: Three words: queer. Ownvoices. Romcom. Okay, sort of three words, but you get the point. I was sold on this the moment I saw it, throw in a dash of fake dating and I have the feeling this is going to be really fun.

Hex and the City by Kate Johnson

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: September 3rd, 2023

Why I Want to Read: I got this through a blind date with a book thing on Etsy and I was so excited when I saw what book it was! I love witchy paranormal romances, and I love that we’ve had (are having?) a bit of a trend with them!

Under the Mistletoe with You by Lizzie Huxley-Jones

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: October 24th, 2024

Why I Want to Read: Christmas books are always great for a little bit of cheer when the weather gets darker and wetter, and this looks adorable! I’m also glad to see more queer Christmas books gradually coming out year by year. Also this gets bonus points for the pair being stranded together.

As always, if you have read any of these or have any on your TBR, too, please let me know! I’d love to hear your thoughts on them, and your lighthearted book recommendations!
