I was intrigued by the Goodreads 100 New Horror Recommendations for (Nearly) Every Kind of Reader list, and after completing the Most Popular Horror list earlier in the year, it felt like a good time to visit this one and see what I’ve read and what intrigues me. As this list is split into categories/subgenres/trends, I’m doing the same. Last time, I looked at the first four for ‘parenting’, so today I’m taking a look over the next four.
Goodreads 100 New Horror Recommendations
For (Nearly) Every Kind of Reader
Parenting is the most terrifying thing I can think of
(Part 2)
As mentioned before, I definitely don’t think I’ve read much ‘parenting’ horror, so a lot of these books are very new to me!

This one definitely passed me by – and it sounds so intriguing! I love that cover, too, with the old fashioned pram on the hill. I really want to dive deeper into this.

Another one I missed, but this sounds so creepy and eerie and…yeah, I’d really love to read this.
And Then She Fell

It strikes me these are all focused on mothers – that’s no surprise, really, considering pregnancy is a level of body horror in itself, and I figure there’s a rise of these types of books (surrounding pregnancy, motherhood, etc) in the wake of issues around reproductive rights. And I’m all for it! I definitely want to check this one out.

Okay – not as intrigued by this as the others, but still curious! Sounds like it could be really good – or not so good, but either way, I’m willing to give it a go.
One of the best ways I’ve found for keeping track of books I want but don’t own is wish lists, so I now have both ‘Most Popular Horror‘ and ‘100 New Horror‘ as wish lists, if you’re curious as to what books I’m intending – or hoping – to get at some point in the future. (They’re also mainly so I can point out to my partner which books I’m hoping to get for birthdays, Christmas, etc!)
The parenting category has definitely been interesting, and I’m looking forward to diving into the next section – Body Horror! Hopefully I’ll be a bit more familiar with those particular books.
