Monday Moods: Vampires

So…as #5OnMyTBR seems to have come to an end (unfortunately, as I very much enjoyed it!) I thought I’d continue with something similar…basically, welcome to Monday Moods, where each week I’ll spotlight TBR books that fit into a particular reading ‘mood’. As you can tell from this first one, I am being generous with what I count as a ‘mood’. Sometimes it’ll be more open (happy, hopeful, sad, etc), other times more genre based, etc. We’ll see how it goes.

And feel free to join in if you like – just link back to this post, and I guess if there’s interest I’ll throw a page up on the site? But yes, please do let me know what you think and if you like this!

This Week, I’m in the Mood For…
Vampires

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires
Grady Hendrix

Genre: Horror
Age: Adult
Format: Audiobook
Published: April 7th, 2020

I Want to Read This Because I was slow getting on the Hendrix train, but I really loved The Final Girl Support Group and am keen on reading more Hendrix. As a rule, I love vampires, and I love seeing different ways they’re tackled. But the focus here on older female characters really draws me in.

A Hunger Like No Other
Kresley Cole

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: March 28th, 2006

I Want to Read This Because I am obsessed with that cover! Honestly, this book sounds right up my street – a vampire, a werewolf, supernatural threats – this is a kind of classic of the genre at this point, and as someone who absolutely devoured the first few Anita Blake books, I think I’ll really enjoy this.

All the Hearts You Eat
Hailey Piper

Genre: Gothic Horror
Age: Adult
Format: Paperback
Published: October 15th, 2024

I Want to Read This Because you know what’s better than vampire fiction? Queer vampire fiction! Hailey Piper is such a good writer and yet I’m more familiar with her short stories than her longer work. I’m really excited to dig into this.

After Darkness Falls
May Sage

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: April 23rd, 2019

I Want to Read This Because it sounds fun and intriguing, right from the start of the summary, and I do love vampire paranormal romance.

A Blood as Bright as the Moon
Andrea Morstabilini

Genre: Gothic Horror
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: September 2nd, 2025

I Want to Read This Because it’s queer gothic horror. And it sounds like such a different take on vampires – vampires living away from humans and seeking their own salvation, as well as a possible romance between Ambrose and a human that sounds like it might come with complications…I’m really looking forward to this.

As always if you have your own vampire recommendations for me, just let me know. And please feel free to use ‘Monday Moods’ for your own posts – as mentioned above, if there’s some interest for this I’ll definitely look to give it is own page on the blog.
